It is Terry's Sports Page intent to recognize students in Texas UIL Region I Class AA who exhibit leadership and good citizenship in both academics and athletics by offering a scholarship(s).

Terry’s Sports Page wishes to recognize student/athletes who not only succeed in UIL athletic competitions but student/athletes whose academic progress and success serves as a priority.

To Qualify for the Terry’s Sports Page Scholarship, the student must be:

  1. Graduating with the Class of 2010.
  2. Active in at least one UIL high school sport covered by Terry's Sports Page (UIL Texas Region I Class AA).
  3. Active in at least one UIL Academic competition or Extra-Curricular event such as Band, Choir, FFA or other UIL sponsored competitions.
  4. Maintaining a 90 GPA or equivalent grades 9-12

What is the scholarship worth and how many scholarships will be offered?

Terry's Sports Page scholarships will be worth $500, at a minimum one will be given to a male student/athlete and one to a female student/athlete. My employer Conoco-Phillips has agreed to match the scholarships this year making each scholarship worth $1000. If there are an odd number of scholarhips given after two; the next scholarship will be given to the best candidate regardless of their gender.

When will applications be accepted?

Applications for Terry’s Sports Page Sponsors Scholarship will be accepted starting JANUARY 2, 2010 until FEBRUARY 28, 2010. Any applications received that are postmarked before or after these dates will not be accepted or evaluated.

How do I apply?

If you meet the criteria set above contact your high school counselor and have them:

  1. Download a SCHOLARHIP APPLICATION by clicking here (note you must have Adobe 5.0 or greater) to download application.
  2. Fill out the required information and return it to your counselor. You may type out the required information on a seperate sheet(s) if you wish. Also, if there is not enough room on the form you may attach extra sheets with any information you feel is important.
  3. Your counselor will mail the completed form to Terry’s Sports Page.

If your counselor has problems downloading the application form send an e-mail to regionone@cableone.net and we will discuss the best way to get the application to the candidate.

Who can nominate a Student/Athlete for the scholarship?

Only a high school counselor or school alternate can nominate a student/athlete for the scholarhip.

How can a parent/guardian participate?

Contact your student/athlete’s high school senior counselor and ask them to submit your student’s application.

How will a student know if she/he has been nominated?

The nominating counselor and the student’s parents/guardians will be notified by e-mail when a complete nomination has been received.

How will the Scholarship award winners be selected?

All of the kid's applications will be evaluated by two instructors who are not affiliated with Region I Class AA or Terry's Sports Page. One of the evaluators teaches at WTAMU and the other at Amarillo High School.

How will the winner be notified?

On, or shortly before, MARCH 30, 2010 the nominating counselor and the students parents/guardians will be notified by e-mail.

How will the winner receive their scholarship award?

The recipient will have to enroll in the college of their choice then the TSP scholarship money will be placed in an account under their name at that school. At that time TSP will send the forms and documentation to Conoco-Phillips who will place their matching fund in the same account according to the chart below.
